WHERE? kus?
WHY ESTONIA? miks Eesti?
If you need to ask this question then you might be on this website by mistake.
Miks mitte…
HOW DO I GET TO Tallinn, Estonia?
BY AIR
FROM ENGLAND
Air Baltic - operates three direct flights per week from London Gatwick. Gets pricey, book well in advance, honestly, book now if you can.
Ryanair - operates six direct flights a week from London Stansted. Affordable if you book 8 months in advance.
Wizz Air - operates four direct flights a week from London Luton, sometimes really cheap, most of the times unreasonably expensive.
Finnair, SAS, Lufthansa - operate multiple connecting flights per week from London Heathrow and Manchester
FROM SCOTLAND
SAS, Lufthansa, AirBaltic - operate multiple connecting flights per week from Edinburgh and Glasgow via Stockholm, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Riga
REST OF THE WORLD
Loads of connecting flights via Helsinki
Spend a day in Helsinki and take the ferry to Tallinn (1.5 or 2 hours)
BY LAND
FROM ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND
Trains will take you as far as Berlin, then it is only bus, probably a 2 day journey
Driving - 2 days
BY SEA
Sail your own boat from anywhere in the world.
Book a cruise and hope it stops in Tallinn on the 26th July.
There are multiple ferries a day from Helsinki
Daily overnight ferry from Stockholm
WHERE TO STAY?
Hotels are relatively cheap, and Airbnb is even cheaper.
If you would like to keep all fun things in walking distance then the best areas to stay would be:
Vanalinn - Old town, very central, medieval
Kesklinn- Centre of town
Kalamaja - Hipster
Rotermanni, Kadriorg, Tatari, Kelmiküla, Kassisaba - all very central, some parts more residential than others
CLIMATE?
Estonians used to call summer “kaks kuud sitta suusailma” meaning two months of shit ski weather. In recent years it is more like 20-25C sunny weather from late June to August with occasional showers. Don’t expect a tan though…
Days are still long in July (17-18h) so expect 20 hours of light and make sure to get a place with decent blinds/curtains if you love sleeping in the dark.
Political climate - Estonia borders Russia, advisable to get travel insurance in case there are any changes to our wedding plans.
